2008 competition
"By competing and winning the Telstra Marketing Academy® program I have been able to broaden my business knowledge and become aware of more opportunities that I can pursue. It was an experience that will greatly benefit me in the future and I had a fun time doing it. Telstra's awesome."
Telstra work experience
During my time at Telstra, I got a great first hand view of how a company is run. Visiting the advertising agency DDB who work with Telstra was a great experience, giving me a good understanding of how all the departments work together to deliver a campaign and what it all involves. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and I am very grateful for the opportunity and all that I have learnt will help me in my future career !!

"Telstra Marketing Academy® has given me an opportunity to do something I wouldn't have been able to do. The work experience will show me what it would be like to work in this profession. I had a good time and encourage people to take the chance to enter this competition."
Telstra work experience
Work Experience at Telstra was an experience that may not come around again. It was a clear insight into what it is like working in a workplace environment. Each is totally different. This allowed me to see what environment I liked, and what I didn't. It is definitely beneficial to my future, and the agency DDB experience was great fun. Anyone who has this opportunity should take it as it is once in a lifetime experience.

"I had a great time preparing for this competition, and it has shown me the way marketing operates within a business. As I'm from the country it gave me a fantastic change to come to the big city and experience a different lifestyle."
Telstra work experience
Telstra has giving me a opportunity that will benefit me in further careers. The work experience task has given me an inside account of how a company operates. The people are welcoming and open about their careers ups and downs, they put a lot of time and effort into ensuring we had a enjoyable time working with Telstra. The work experience let me have a feel of what its like in corporate business. I would recommend other students to take on this challenge and enjoy it.

On behalf of Parramatta Marist High School, parents and teachers, I would like to thank you for giving Akshath Kale, Matthew Moore and James Dellenty (Grand Finalists) the opportunity to experience the world of business as they have never seen before. (The look on their faces when they saw the rolling glass doors at the entrance of the building was priceless!). The boys were extremely pleased with their efforts, and from what I have seen, this experience has only had a positive influence on them. In fact, Matthew has decided to further his studies in Marketing as a result of his experience with the Telstra Marketing Academy®.
I would also like to take this opportunity to applaud and congratulate Telstra on their efforts in maximising student exposure to and learning in the business world. Through the Telstra Marketing Academy®, you have given students the opportunity to further develop their skills and knowledge, and have helped them realise that what they learn in class does have a practical application in the 'real world'. Your contribution to the educational development of our students is much appreciated.
I look forward to 2009. I am sure that Parramatta Marist High School will continue to work closely with Telstra on the next campaign.
Kind Regards,

Being involved in the Telstra Marketing Academy® project was an extremely beneficial learning experience for both my students and I. The students gained a valuable insight into the workings of a major Australian company and had the opportunity of meeting and presenting to 'real life' employees. The focus of the project was on marketing, but my students also developed skills in communication, teamwork, public presentation, networking and being organised to meet a deadline. The project also created an excitement and purpose to learning about marketing.
For me as a teacher of business management the project engaged students in a meaningful way and covered more than just the curriculum required for the VCE. The project was also a novel way of assessing student understanding and knowledge particularly as it was completed in conjunction with textbook theory.
The excitement and commitment shown by the students was transferred into a greater understanding than what would have occurred.
Students were also able to present the project to the broader school, which creates excitement and builds pride and responsibility in the students.
